Lying on a couch cover of a multi colored wool blanket are two Irish Whistles. The one on the left is a low D whistle made by The Whistle Smith. The one on the right is a tunable high D whistle by Tony Dixon. The lower D is about twice the size of the high D. Both are black, though the low D also has some white accents. The low D whistle was made here in Maine.

Two Irish penny whistles are laying on a blue cloth background. The one on the left is silver (nickel) with a black pvc mouthpiece. The one on the right is black pvc. It also has a gold band 3/4ths of the way up from the bottom. This is where the whistle comes apart making it tunable. They are both the Tony Dixson brand.
I switched between my two Dixson whistles for practice today. I may have overdone it though, so I'm a little worried about how my hands might feel tomorrow. But boy, it was a great session. My childhood band geek is very happy. #irishwhistle #bandgeek #musicnerd
