Barry Melton "Karma" written by Barry Melton produced by David Charles & Barry Melton Karma written by Barry Melton Produced by David Charles & Barry Melton Barry Melton's album called " The Fish " Released in 1977 Barry Melton personnel are - Barry Melton - lead guitar, vocals Ray Martinez - rhythm and slide guitar Ken Whaley - bass Tommy Eyre - keyboards David Charles - drums As a musician I am always on the look out for something new (to me) and interesting musically. One of the ways I do that is by asking other people, especially musicians, what it is that they really like to listen to that is not mainstream or top 40 and I get all sorts of great suggestions. This particular band was suggested by my cousin Steve Schlecht. We used to jam together as kids and we spent many hours listening to records. I like to find the most obscure / rare music. This is one of those records. After moving away from the Seattle area and as the years past... I found myself spending hours in a dusty/musty dark room (upstairs of the record store in Duluth, Minnesota, before & during the time I worked there) going through thousands of records trying to guess which one is worth the effort... you have to, there was literally thousands waiting to be discarded. I just can't process the thought of what didn't get saved! We are particularly fond of this song because we (Mark and I) and our band used to play this song. People used to love this song...they would ask "what song is this, did you write it?" Then we'd get these people (other musicians) saying that we should do songs that everyone knows!! BORING!! It's funny that musicians, at least in this area, think that people wanna hear the same old top 40 hits. It's good to put one or two top 40's mixed in with the unknown. That's the ticket. It keeps the audience interested to see what's next! We've been doing "off the wall obscure" stuff for years and we get a GREAT reaction from audiences. Our problem is that we cannot find other players (guitar) who will learn this stuff. I (Tor) think its just fear or laziness. The reason I say this is because when you listen to the bands play top 40 stuff, they are so used to playing it that they get lazy and it sounds lame. This is not JUST my opinion. Mark and I go out to watch a band and they don't seem to hold their audience...the people just talk right through the songs....just saying. Disclaimer; We do not own the copyrights to any of these recordings. These recordings are for Historical and Educational purposes Only!!! Yeah! So, you better just watch it!!! (l.o.l.)
