Van ver buiten de stad Haarlem is de Grote of St.-Bavokerk al te zien. De houten, met lood beklede toren is 78 m hoog. Deze middeleeuwse gotische kruiskerk is een van de grootste kerken in Nederland. Uniek in het interieur zijn het prachtige houten gewelf, het bekende Müllerorgel, het koperen koorhek, de vele glas-in-loodramen en de 400 grafstenen op de vloer, van onder andere Frans Hals en Willem Bilderdijk.
