Post: July twenty fifth, nineteen, forty six. Monroe, GA. For black people, Two men, two women, one of them seven months pregnant, were dragged out of a car by a white mob. They tied them up. They shot them over sixty times and then left their bodies in the dirt like they were nothing. And when the FBI showed up, when President Truman call for justice, over one hundred witnesses, a whole town who knew exactly who did it. And not one single person was ever charged. Because in America, lynching was never about breaking the law. It was the law. This was Monroe, GA. Moore's Ford Bridge, a place soaked in the blood of black people long before this day. George Dorsey. He was a war World War Two veteran. He bought for a country that didn't see him as human, made Dorsey his wife. She loved him enough to die by his side. Dorothy Malcom was seven months pregnant. They shot her anyway. Roger Malcom, who had just been released from jail after an altercation with the white man. And for that that mob decided his life needed to the end. They were on their way home. They had no idea that their own sheriff had just said them up the same share of who conveniently left them on that road minutes before the mob arrived. The same share of who handed them over to their executioners on a silver platter, and then walked away the same share of who heard them begging for their life IVs, and let it happen anyway. When those white men started shooting, they didn't stop until those black bodies were unrecognizable. Because Lincoln wasn't just about unbelieving, It was about making sure that the message was clear. Because this wasn't just an aligning people, it was an act of terror because to them black life had no value. Not in nineteen forty six, not now, not ever. And the worst part is that this was nineteen forty six, not eighteen, forty six. This wasn't the Old South. This was a postwar modern America. This was supposed to be the land of the free, but black people weren't free. We were hunted. And tell me if America really put lynching behind them, why did a Mart Arberry have to run for his life on a back road in Georgia ? Why do black people still turn up hanging from trees and they call it self harm ? Why do we still have to fight for justice ? That should be automatic. Because they didn't stop lynching us, they just got better at covering it up up. And if that doesn't make you sick than you haven't been paying attention. Share, believe, inspire blacks be.
