FYI, Michael Sieler is looking for a postdoc, as in he is a graduating student and is looking for a new position. He gave an excellent talk, could be a good fit for a microbiome lab, parasitology lab, fish biology lab, etc. #BenficialMicrobes #BeneficialMicrobesMTG

(FYI, the conference schedule is here: conferences.union.wisc.edu/microbes/pro..., and I tend to use the shorter tag
#BeneficialMicrobes instead of #BeneficialMicrobesMTG for those 3 extra characters)
New day of #BeneficialMicrobesMTG #BeneficialMicrobes. Jens Kreth: Molecular Commensalism: Exploring the Role of Oral Corynebacteria in Microbiome Dynamics
Interesting story about the stimulation of migration and pili formation by co-occurring oral microbes.
Kamalani Chock closes out todays #BeneficialMicrobesMtg session with a talk about tomato plant colonization with symbionts. It's unpublished, but interesting story about how microbes contribute to plant development and specific genes involved in this.
Elizabeth Heath-Heckman, new asst prof at Michigan State, talks about (unpublished) study of neuron development in squid. Love that when a student saw something unusual, EHH recognized what was happening because she saw the same thing as a student. #BeneficialMicrobesMTG
Helena Heyer-Gray from UConn tells a good story about copper binding microbes from ants, but it's unpublished. Will say that I love the ant videos.

Vanessa Leone told an interesting story about a Lactobacillus strain that has a diurnal oscillation that is associated with REG3y. Unfortunately I spent way too much time trying to find the paper with Frazier et all from 2022, and missed most of this good story.

Hiutung Chu identified a gene, nanH. NanH promotes resilience and competitive fitness during antibiotic perturbations (ciprofloxacin). In infant human gut, nanH is a core gene found in all B. fragilis strains.

Excellent and moving opening keynote from @momedinamunoz.bsky.social , ending the impressive science on coral-microbe interactions with how she is working to connect art(music) with science advocacy. #beneficialmicrobesmtg
