Police must ensure security for political events of Oppn leaders in Bengal: Calcutta HC Kolkata, Feb 2 (SocialNews.XYZ) A division bench of the Calcutta High Court, on Monday, gave clear instructions to both West Bengal Police and Kolkata Police to ensure absolute security for public political programmes of elected representatives from the opposition parties. The Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari approached the Calcutta High Court in October last year seeking the court’s intervention for a permanent solution to ensure that the public political programmes of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s legislators and parliamentarians, which include a couple of Union ministers of state, do not face unwarranted hostility and resistance from the ruling Trinamool Congress activists.

Violence over Waqf Act in Bengal: Calcutta HC orders immediate CAPF deployment Kolkata, April 12 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Calcutta High Court on Saturday directed the immediate deployment of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) personnel in the minority-dominated Murshidabad district of West Bengal where several pockets are on the boil as protests against the Waqf (Amendment) Act turned violent. At least three persons were killed in the violence. Earlier on Saturday, the Leader of the Opposition in the state Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, approached the Calcutta High Court seeking CAPF deployment at Murshidabad and claimed the state police department was unable to keep the situation under control.
