Follow #BeringTimeBridge as we explore more ice age ecology from the Arctic in the #BEASTLab.
A not-insignificant amount of time was spent discussing how we will handle human waste while in the field. Leave no trace! #BeringTimeBridge
Chantal digitally hand-sculpted these pollen and spores from reference materials as part of our #NSFunded outreach work for the #BeringTimeBridge project. The printed grains will help with education, and the images will be used in a VR experience for middle schoolers.
10 am: Applying for a USDA permit to import pressed plants we collected in Russia. We’ll use these as a reference to ID ancient pollen, plant fragments, and DNA from fossil dung, cores, and permafrost for our #NSFunded research. #BeringTimeBridge #dayofscience #BEASTLab
We’ll share more in the coming weeks and beyond, but for now, follow #BeringTimeBridge for updates, including from the upcoming Siberian expedition!
The #BEASTLab proudly presents: #BeringTimeBridge! Over the next several years, as part of my #NSFunded research, we’ll be reconstructing the ice age ecology of Beringia, the land bridge that connects Siberia and Alaska when sea levels were lower during glacial intervals.
