It's
#WorldWetlandsDay so take a look at an all- wetland building approach by Hudson Architects. Rapidly renewable materials are our future if we want to have one. #biCRS #carbonstorageasproducts

wall sections made with bundled hemp stalks on the right and wood (left) with hempcrete infill showing great difference in global warimng potential, both negative = good.
Ok Ok 🍿, bundled #hemp stalks as load bearing elements in #hempcrete walls compared to timber (hempcrete needs additional structure). It seems as if academia has finally woken up. Good work guys. Now onto replacing the lime, please. #rapidlyrenewablematerials #bicrs

What do almond shells and sewage sludge have in common?
The answer might surprise you! Check out WRI Climate’s latest article to learn how this organic waste isn’t going to waste anymore. bit.ly/BiCRSwaste

This all-straw house approach by LTL architects is wild. But imho it's also way to explore carbon storage possibilities. #strawhouse #strawbuilding #bicrs

Brown macro algae / seaweed / Sargassum can be turned into building products as well without much investment. See Sargablock #renewablematerial #carbonstorageasproducts #bicrs #cdr fortomorrow.org/explore-solu...

A bit optimistic about DACS perhaps, but stimulating OA paper, imo. While reading it I kept wondering what the results would be for China, or the EU with less than half the contiguous US surface area.
"In the United States, #BiCRS has the potential to exceed 800 million tonnes of CO2 removed from the atmosphere per year at a net cost less than $100/tonne CO2, with no impact on food production."

Current bioenergy use having as signal price €/MWh achieve an horrible C efficiency (C in C out in energy) of 15-20%
Shifting to €/tón CO2e avoided pricing we can triple the C efficiency via biogenic C sequestration in the geo/techno/pedosphere
Here the case of a C negative biogas refinery

In 2025, I’d like to spend a moment each day highlighting a paper/report that I’ve found useful 📝 Consider this my first post: #RhodiumGroup’s newest economic opportunities of #CDR report : https://buff.ly/4jUHExs 🔧 #BiCRS #DACS #ERW #OAE #DirectOceanCapture #jobs #energy

@allegramayer.bsky.social at #AGU24 showed the counter factual fate of #BiCRS feedstocks— v import info for #LCA. Processed products (eg char) produce a fair amt of N2O; less so in low pH soil. Gasification comes out best— w least GHG emissions

Ever heard of #BiCRS?
"biomass carbon removal & storage. The term describes a range of processes that use plants & algae to remove carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere & store that CO2 underground or in long-lived products" doi.org/10.2172/1763937
The latter is usually the part that is left out.
