Where I am as I post link to article on bike cities and traveling car free: at the Olympia Amtrak station waiting to load my bike and go to Seattle. If you're frustrated with the traffic on I5, just know it's not me.

SO MANY good tips in replies to this! I'm saving them because I hope to take a long Amtrak trip one of these days, maybe with my bike to get off and ride around, stay for a day or two in a town, get back on and keep going. Trains are awesome.
