Northern Saw-whet Owl was the 1st request I had received from a birder I admire a ton, but it took a while to capture properly due to their patterning. I ended up starting with an owlet since they don’t have all the striping going on, then did the adult, then modified both from there.🪶

An original digital illustration by Loadofolbobbins of a Barn Owl in flight. The perspective is as if you were looking up underneath the owl as it’s swooping with claws beneath it to catch pray. It’s wings are together behind it caught in the upward flapping motion. The colouring of the owl is a combination of creams and browns with dark speckled markings across the body, underwing and head. The head of the owl is a slightly richer, almost orange brown. One big black eye can be seen looking beyond it’s claws, intensely focused and there’s a trail of brownish feather beneath it which look almost like a stripe that leads to the small pointed yellow beak. The background is inky wash in dark blue.
Oh happy day I have finally caught up with the #BirbFest2025 prompts, so that’s me done! 🥳 Now just to collate them into a zine 🙌 Enjoy this Barn Owl my loves…
