March 2026 Bird Whisperer project is the Inca South American Green Jay. Digital sketch studies of 2 green jays, with the North American Green Jay and South American Inca Green Jay as profile pictures. I wanted to show case the visual differences of the faces between the Green Jays for educational purposes. With the North American Green Jay having less beak floof, dark brown eyes and a blue plumage adorning the head, while the South American Inca Jay as more beak floofage, bright colored yellow eyes and a white tawny green plumage adorning the head. Both birds are separated by the panama canal.

i tried a pen drawing for this month’s #BirdWhispererProject. it’s not a medium i have much experience in and i have mixed feelings about the results. it reminded me a print, so in ordered a beginner linocut kit and spent a fun afternoon playing with that medium too!
