That’s so sad Paul that your dad never got to meet his 3 siblings. The #birthinfo tracing is a poor attempt by the state imo, the state reneging on DNA tracing & illegally redacting our information denies many the chance to connect with birth families.

My own personal experience of dealing with the #AAI was unsatisfactory. I found them aloof & dismissive when querying delays & redacted #birthinfo.

Orlaith Traynor was not challenged on her statement about delivering #birthinfo within the 3 month timeframe, this was not the case in 2023 or early 2024.
4000 entries to the Contact Preference List with only 393 matches is hardly something to be proud of & also should’ve been challenged.

An awful pity that @newstalkfm.bsky.social didn’t do proper research into the #birthinfo before they interviewed Orlaith Traynor, the Chair of #AAI.
Not once was she challenged on some of her very sweeping statements about the delivery of birth information.

My children are in their 20’s. I never told them about my past but they both know I was born in #Bessboro, know I’m excluded from #Redress & know how farcical the #BirthInfo is. Both are well informed on our shameful history. It was my job to educate them & they in turn have educated their friends
I don’t qualify for financial redress, the #birthinfo did not deliver for me either & #Tusla have closed my trace even though they never traced my birth father. We were promised DNA tracing as part of the original redress, unfortunately this was objected to & removed
My reason for not voting Greens had nothing to do with climate change, Roderic O’Gorman’s #MotherandBabyHome #Redress scheme is discriminatory, excludes 24,000 & those that do qualify have to sign a waiver before funds are distributed to them. & the #birthinfo does not provide the promised service

It is illegal to redact #birthinfo when those mentioned are dead.
The #Tracing element turned out to be farcical, a social worker with no #DNA experience dealt with my case, I imparted information about my Birth Father to her. She traced & made contact with a man who WAS NOT my relation!

My #birthinfo is partially #redacted despite the fact both my adoptive parents are no longer alive, the redactions related to their correspondence.
I asked for a review of my info.
I received revised #info which only included 2 letters of correspondence in relation to their adoption application.

I was however entitled to apply for my #birthinfo & #tracing, these were classed as #redress for those who didn’t qualify for #financialredress
I applied for my #birthinfo the day after it became available.

The only thing I’m entitled to is #birthinfo, yet despite recent legislation my information is still #redacted. The tracing service provided by #Tusla is limited & my trace was recently closed by Tusla as there is no Irish record of my Birth Father.
I have received none of the proposed #redress
