I believe you can read the second book foregoing the first one and you won't miss out on anything. The sequel is a repetition of the prequel with minimal progress to their relationship.

I now understand the controversy behind this book. It's not pretty at all.
I genuinely did not like the book. It left a sour taste in my mouth.

Day 17 (11 days laterπŸ˜„): "A City on Mars" by Kelly and Zach Weinersmith. An interesting book about why colonizing Mars in the near future is a terrible idea (a long term goal is fine). Just started it but it's interesting and funny so far

I now understand why everyone always says this is a must read and if you were to die having read only one book, let that book be *The Alchemist*.

Lots of misery and sadness. I feel like the characters got to experience a bit of happiness in the last chapter and that was the epilogue.
I'm glad I'm done though.

Day 16: "Generations" by Jean M. Twenge, PhD. Sorry, I've been cheating on the challenge by talking about the books and doing more than one a day. Oh well, haha

Day 15: "How To Be An Anti-Racist" by Ibram X. Kendi. Everybody should read this, but especially every white American. It completely changed my view on many things and showed me a lot of prejudices as a "not racist" white man i didn't know i had. Read it

Day 14: "Hum If You Don't Know The Words" by Bianca Marais. Set in 1976 Apartheid South Africa during the Soweto Uprising. I don't know much about Apartheid but I think it's interesting subject, so I'm trying to learn more.

Instead of #bookskychallenge, here is a current read. "Navola" by @paolobacigalupi.bsky.social. The lush prose, the social intrigue, the twisty plotsβ€”this story doesn't build a backdrop of intimate details and betrayal for nothing! If you're a fan of The Count of Monte Cristo, this book is for you!

Day 12: "Horse" by Geraldine Brooks. This is historical fiction about a champion stallion (the horse was real), slavery, discrimination, racism, and art. Sounds like a very weird combination but it's very good and i learned quite a bit

Day 9: "Martyr" by Kaveh Akbar. A young man's journey from the Iran to America with his father as a young kid. As an adult, he has to discover who he is and who he'll become. A terrible description but an amazing book.

Day 8: "Born A Crime" by Trevor Noah. I never have really cared about celebrity memoirs but I love Trevor Noah and my knowledge on Apartheid South Africa is limited. This book is hilarious, frightening, and uplifting. One of my new favorites

It's vulnerable, honest, bare and every detail paints a perfect graphic image in your mind. Through this book, I discovered a new way of narrating a love story and intimacy. This is a work of art in the literary space.

The first time I was introduced to Akwaeke Emezi was through The daily Show hosted by Trevor Noah and they got to discuss their books, both "You made a fool of death with your beauty" and "Dear Senthuran."
