A background graphic of a lone bat flying under the full moon. On the left is the information about the story. To the right is a photo of the book cover for Brave New Girls: Tales of Girls Who Invent and Imagine. The cover is mocked up to look like it's on a cell phone screen. The text from top to bottom reads: "Tricia at Bat" by JD Cadmon. From an anthology with 23 tales of teen girls saving the day with STEM; Contemporary Texas setting; MC has public speaking anxiety; MC advocates her local city council for bat habitats. Out now! #QueerWriters Goals
I have two goals this week that are firm:
A) Finish this draft of #LauraAndTheHurricanes
B) Send my proof notes to the editors of #BraveNewGirls no later than May 18th.
I had last week off, but I'm back at the job today. Oddly, that might help me succeed because of routines.

#WeeknightWriters Intro
I'm JD. I write sci-fi and fantasy, usually with romantic elements and often with bi leads.
This week I completed the submission call for a #BraveNewGirls anthology short. If the editors like it (they've been kind to me in the past), it will come out in July.
I wrote a 5500-word story for the #BraveNewGirls anthology, which raises scholarship money for girls who want to pursue careers in STEM (science, tech, engineering, math).
My story is a tale about a genius young girl who invents an AI that ends capitalism...

Last night at nearly the last minute, I submitted a short story to the 8th #BraveNewGirls anthology. (My first publishing credit was the 5th BNG.)
I had to fight to get the story out, and I sent the first draft. Not the best practice or what I want to do regularly. I'm happy it exists, though.
