The most important bad choice from #LauraAndTheHurricanes (8/27) is that Laura let herself have a relationship w/ Charley, an abusive biker. She had lost family and was looking for a new one. When she finally broke up with him, that triggered the events of the novella.

Laura is bullied and more in the dark section of #LauraAndTheHurricanes. She fights back verbally and thinks of getting back physically by whacking a few ankles with her pipe wrench. She doesn't, though.

Otherwise, not a lot of clever ways to handle bullies in my stories.

I don't have any direct comparisons. The closest I get is sapphic werewolf bikers and one character with a bad male ex in Her Wolf In the Wild by Rien Gray.

Thankfully, there are no homophobic/transphobic hate crimes in #LauraAndTheHurricanes. Regular crimes, yes, and Laura's male ex taunts her for dating a woman now. But that's the extent of the queer-specific negativity in the story.

Laura herself comes out as part of her relationship with Audrey. (Lucky gif find. Laura has an afro. The other woman isn't Audrey, but can't win 'em all.)

In #LauraAndTheHurricanes, Laura and Audrey become girlfriends by the end of it. They are a bi/pan pair.

It's important because bi (and pan) people exist. They're still bi no matter what type of relationship they have, and that should be respected and taken as a normal thing.

#QueerPrompts The only real explanation in #LauraAndTheHurricanes is when pansexual werewolf Audrey verifies with human Laura that she kisses other girls. Laura has always been attracted to other women but never acted on it until Audrey.

Okay. Done with my Logic revision of #LauraAndTheHurricanes. No, that's not an official editorial term. Anyhow, I can start adding in various editing notes. I might give myself the night off on this, though, and work on my Christmas one to give myself a brain break. We'll see.

Laura is bisexual, and her relationship with Audrey is her first time to act on her desires.

Audrey, a werewolf, flirts with everyone. Her sexuality is part of her power. She is pansexual.

Most characters focus on unlearning shame.

In #LauraAndTheHurricanes, Laura has a conversation with her naked werewolf girlfriend. She jokingly accuses her of having no shame.

Audrey replies: “Shame is taught, and that’s one lesson I refuse to learn.”
