Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is All Star and ‘74 NL ERA leader Buzz Capra. The ‘75 card definitely has seen better days! He played for ATL from ‘74-‘77. After retiring, he went on to become a pitching coach and manager, in the Mets’, Phillies’, and Braves' respective farm systems.
Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is the ‘64 MIL Braves. They finished in 5th place with a 88–74 record, five games behind the WS Champ STL Cards. It was the franchise's penultimate season in MIL. They attempted to move to ATL after the season was over but was delayed a year & the team moved in ‘66.
Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is Mike McQueen. He played for ATL from ‘69-‘72. He had an injury plagued career but from 1969 to 1974 McQueen appeared in 73 games as a pitcher, making 19 starts for the Braves and Reds.
Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is All Star Shane Greene. He played for ATL from ‘19-‘21. He also played for NYY, DET, LAD, and CHC. He temporarily joined the Diablos Rojos del México during the 2026 Baseball Champions League Americas.
Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is Jimmy Kremers. He played for ATL in ‘90. In ‘91 he was traded to the Expos for Otis Nixon, who would go on to steal 72 bases for the Braves as they won the 1991 National League pennant. He played 5 more years in the minor leagues before retiring.
Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is All Star ‘02 Jose Hernandez. He played for ATL in ‘99. Primarily a shortstop, Hernández played every position except pitcher. He also played for TX, CLE, CHC, MIL, COL, PIT, LAD, PHIL and coached for BAL.
Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is George Stone. He played for ATL from ‘67-‘72. Stone was 13–10 with a 3.65 ERA for the National League West champion Braves in 1969. In his career, he won 60 games against 57 losses, with 590 strikeouts and a 3.89 ERA in 1020.2 innings pitched.
Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is 4x All Star Birdie Tebbetts. In Oct 1958, he was hired as an executive vice president for MIL. He served in the Braves front office from ‘59-Sept ‘61. When the team fired Chuck Dressen in Sept, he managed the last month of the season as well as ‘62.
Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is NL ROY ‘71 Earl Williams and Oscar Brown. Earl played for ATL from ‘70-‘72 & ‘75-‘76. He was the first Brave to win the Rookie of the Year Award since Sam Jethroe in 1950 with what were then the Boston Braves.
Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is Baltimore Hall of Fame Member & World Series Champion (‘83) Gary Roenicke. He signed as a free agent in 1986 and played for ATL from ‘87-‘88. He also played for Montreal, Baltimore and the Yankees.
Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is ‘88 AL ROY, ‘98 All Star, & 2x WS Champ Walt Weiss. He played for ATL from ‘98-‘00. He coached for ATL from ‘18-‘25 & is the current manager. He has a background in taekwondo & MMA training, which he utilized last night to tackle Jorge Soler!
Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is Wes Helms. He played for ATL in ‘98 & ‘00-‘02. ATL selected Helms in the 10th round of the 1994 Major League Baseball draft. He made his major league debut with the Braves on September 5, 1998. He also played for MIL, FL, and PHIL.
Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is Randy Johnson. He played for ATL from ‘82-‘84. He was traded to the Atlanta Braves in 1980 from the Mets. He made his Major League debut in 1982, and became the starting third baseman in 1984. That year he hit .279 with 5 HR’s and 30 RBI in 322 PA’s
Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is 2x All Star, World Series Champ & MVP ‘57, NL wins leader ‘59, NL ERA leader ‘56, Braves HOF, American Family Field Walk of Fame, Lou Burdette. He played for BOS/MIL from ‘51-‘63. He threw a no hitter on 8/18/60 vs PHIL facing the minimum 27 batters
Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is 3x NL stolen base leader (‘53-‘55) Bill Bruton. He played for MIL from ‘53-‘60. In his 12 year MLB career, he posted an overall .273 batting average with 94 HR and 545 RBIs in 1,610 games. He finished his career with a .981 fielding percentage.
Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is 10x All Star, 4x World Series Champ, ‘46 NL RBI leader, St. Louis Cardinals HOF, St. Louis Cardinals #9 number retired Enos Slaughter. He played for MIL in ‘59. He was known for his hustle, especially for running hard to first base on walks.

Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is All-Star & 3 time World Series Champ Lonnie Smith. He played for ATL from ‘88-‘92. In ‘89, he had a batting average of .315, and a career-high total of 21 home runs. He led the NL with a .415 OBP. He was also named MLB Comeback Player of the Year.
Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is Ignacio “Nacho” Alvarez. He was drafted in the 5th round of the ‘22 MLB draft. He was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett to begin the 2026 season. I look forward to seeing him in the show again at some point this season.
Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is Mike Bielecki. He played for ATL from ‘91-‘92, ‘94 & ‘96-‘97. With only 2 days left in the season, in ‘92 he was named the 5th starter for but his season ended in August due to an elbow injury. He appeared in the 1996 World Series.
Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is Michael Harris II. He’s played for ATL since ‘22. He was named the NL Rookie of the Year, finishing ahead of teammate Spencer Strider. He & Strider were the 2nd pair of Braves to finish 1st & 2nd for the award, following Craig Kimbrel & Freddie Freeman in ‘11.
Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is Oscar Brown. He played for ATL from ‘69-‘73. In 160 Major League games, he collected 77 hits, including four home runs, 14 doubles and two triples. His only full season with the Braves was his last MLB campaign, 1973.
Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is Owen Murphy. Selected in the 1st round of the ‘22 MLB draft. On 5/29/24, it was announced that he would require Tommy John surgery, ending his season. Murphy returned to play in 2025. Across 6 starts with Rome, he went 3-0 with a 1.32 ERA and 29K’s
Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is All-Star Rafael Ramirez. He played for ATL from ‘80-‘87. He led the NL shortstops in double plays four straight years, but also errors five straight years. He made the NL All-Star team in 1984 with a .304 average at mid-season.
Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is Andres Thomas. He played for ATL from ‘85-‘90. Thomas brought a power bat to the shortstop position for the Braves (13 HR each in 1988 and 1989); however, he struck out quite a bit (95 Ks in 1988) and walked only 59 times in five seasons.
Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is Ambioris Tavarez. A ‘20-‘21 international signing, he received $1.5 million. Unfortunately he’s struggled in the minors & is currently on the Columbus AA roster. Hopefully he can get to AAA Gwinette and give the Braves a return on investment.
Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is Pete Smith. He played for ATL from ‘87-‘93. PHIL traded Smith & Ozzie Virgil to ATL for Steve Bedrosian & Milt Thompson. He made his major league debut on 9/8/87 with ATL at age 21. In ‘88, he pitched 3 shutouts, the season after his rookie year.
Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is Wade Blasingame. He played for MIL/ATL from ‘63-‘67. In ‘65 he played in 38 games, including 36 starts. He won 16 games, had 10 complete games & 117 strikeouts & was the top-fielding pitcher in the NL, handling 62 chances without an error.
Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is Dick Kelly. He played for MIL/ATL from ‘64-‘68. He pitched in 188 Major League games between 1964-1969 and in 1971, 61 as a starter. He played for SD in ‘69 & ‘71.
