Combiner Wars Superion is a bit gangly snd a little dated, but the limb bots seem to serve more of a purpose. Stability and poseability may vary.

AOTP Superion is bulkier and gives us more poseability. He is also more stable and more toon accurate. That may be a problem for those who actually may want to see the bots that make up his legs. It is a debate for sure. The cost of these guys is also a major sticking point..

Superion, the combined mode of the Aerialbots. The difference is night and day,.and the devisiveness begins. In CW, the leg bots are visible from thenfront, and actually function as limbs. AoTP gives us a frame and the other bots bulk him up.

Silverbolt is the leader of the Aerialbots. Turning into a Concord in the original G1, we can see that CW was going more for a fighter jet design opposed to the passenger jet design of the original.

Combiner Wars VS Age of the Primes Aerialbots. We start with Skydive, since he was the first Aerialbot I ever owned as a kid.

Devastator is very tall, but he is also very light, given that it feels hollow in places. Still, it is a very nice display piece.

Comparing his size to the combiner that was quite big in its day. Predaking, despite his height being dimunitive in comparison, feels more dense than Devastator.

Devastator is an Autobot's worst nightmare. Physically, he is greater than the sum of his parts, but mentally, those six minds are a destructive maelstrom of rage and anger, and the only constant is an urge to destroy everything in its path.

Was not sure which end was supposes to be the front. This looks like the likeliest candidate, but the drum looks backwards.

The drum is the right way and so do are the smokestacks. Difficult to say. Maybe one is a ruse.

The articulation in some of these bots are hit or miss here. Some have small atms and some have no elbows. You do get the impression that they emphasized the combined form over the individual bots.

Mixmaster, the crazy alchemist of the Constructicons. From raw material to living robots, that drum is not just for cement mixing. The only thing most bots can agree on, it is that Mixmaster definitely has a few screws loose upstairs.

Scrapper is the engineer of the Constructions. He is the one designing all of the equipment the others use.
He is modest for a Decepticon. But he is also a nutcase, as he is known for using Autobots as raw materials for his experiments.

You can equip his gun in lion mode.

His bot form is quite bulky.

As far as Predacons go, Razorclaw is the most reserved, but that is only because he enjoys the hunt and is probably formulating all the ways he can ambush and kill his prey.
He does have an honor code, and he loves the chance to take down a worthy foe.

I lost the original guns at the moment, so I made use of a Seeker's guns. Like the longer weapons on him.

As an eagle, he can stand up pretty good...

Which is more than I can say for his robot mode. It was hard to get him to stand on his own

Give Divebomb a large group of targets he can bomb to kingdom come, and he is happy as a kid on Christmas. The only time he isn't feeling giddy is when he is combined with the rest of the Predacons.

Tiger mode is quite solid here.

His shoulders have ports for his guns, so you can add firepower to his destructive tendencies.

His sword.

There is a theme with the Predacons, and it usually that they are very destructive and quick to give into rage. Rampage is no exception, but then you add a tiger alt mode into the mix.
The only thing that calms him down is TV, the dumber the show the better.

His rhino mode does not hsve much in the ways of articulation here.

Again, you gotta get creative in order to get all of his guns to work.

Sword at the ready.

Headstrong, the rhino, is one to barrel his way through all the obstacles in his life, be it a throng of his enemies or a wall.
His tenacity more than makes up for his lack of courage and intelligence, and acid seeps from his horn to add to his lethality.

Tantrum transforms into a bull. His Japanese name is Torox. This is him without his weapons.

Nornally, he has no place to put his twin guns in bull mode, but if you pull his arms out a bit, the holes in his fists present themselves. He also wears the Predaking foot like a turret.

He comes with a pair of blasters. Tantrum's transformation is simple. Nothing too complicated here.

All five Predacons have a sword as well.

Visiting combiners today with one of the most iconic--the first group to bear the name Predacons.
Tantrum is usually calm and collected, until the frustration and the need for violence boils over. What is left behind is something akin to a natural disaster.

The Dinobot Combiner, Volcanicus. Utilizing the Perfect Effect upgrade kit, he is beefier and taller than what we got in retail. All the swords combine to give him his huge sword.

Tyrannosaurus Rex mode.

Adding the chest plate to give him a turret.

Adept with sword and shield, Grimlock loves getting up close and personal with the enemy, and is known for his berserker tendencies when the urge to fight is high

Grimlock is a Tyrannosaurus Rex, and rules over those he commands with ruthless authority. The experiments may have affected.his speech, but his words still carry weight.
He and Prime don't always see eye to eye, but he can't deny Prime's courage.

Swoop is a Pteranodon, and will use his power of flight to give him an advantage, divebombing his enemies from above.
He is kindhearted and probably the friendliest of the Dinobots.

His sword carries a ripping edge and he will swing it just as deadly as he would his spiked tail in dinosaur mode.

Snarl the Stegosaurus. He is a loner in mature, grudgingly following Grimlock's orders, and loves to leave the thinking to others.

Brontosaurus mode. In the Lightning Coalition, he is the thunder.

Gave him twin gatling guns.

His weapon is a notched cleaver, very heavy, and is primarily used for chopping down with extreme force.

Sludge is a Brontosaurus (or an Apatosaurus), and is usually the heavy hitting, often slow witted, gentle giant of Grimlock's Lightning Coalition. He can use his massive size to cause earthquakes, and is very loyal to Grimlock.

Triceratops mode.

With the upgrades, we are going all Dino Riders here. He can seat a small diaclone figure or a Titams Return figure.

His piece of the Sword is the hilt, which makes a nice axe for him.

Ttansforming into a Triceratops, Slag is a rash dinobot, adverse to authority, and is known as Grimlock's second in command. He challenges his authority pretty frequently, which makes sense, since T-Rex and Triceratops are usually depicted as rivals.

The MicroBlaze set I wish I could have gotten. Comes with a whole new, bulkier Onslaught that looks closer to the game's design.

Bringing it all together...it is not mine. But I wish it was. So beautiful.

Comparison between the Boosticus set and the Microblaze Titans set.

Microblaze Military Titan. Basically, the Onslaught we should have gotten. Really looks nice and gives Bruticus the much needed bulk. I do not own this set, and it went out of circulation long ago, making it really difficult to find for a good price.

Without upgrades. The long gangly arms and the small torso kinda make it hard to look at.

And now we add Boosticus. Bigger feet increase height and add stability. The chest piece and crotch piece add bulk to the torso. We get bigger guns on the back. We get bigger hands. You add the nosecone to Blast-off and the tailfins to Vortex to bulk up shoulders. His arm gets a new flamethrower attachment. Everything is more proportional and bulky where he needs it.

Platinum, Retail (Dubbed Fruitacus back in the day), Takara, G2, and Autobot Wrecker Ruination.

Yeah, Bruticus needed help badly. The gangliness was a bit much. We really need a new set for Gamer Edition to give us the Bruticus we deserve.

Onslaught in his robot mode. If there was any bot that needed an upgrade, it was this guy. And someone did give us a better version of that bot. More about that later.

Vehicle mode. Seems to me like he is missing the entire back half of the vehicle. Also, the arm pegs on the front wheels are a little unsightly

Boosticus really did their best here, giving Onslaught a trailer. I put Blast-off on the trailer. The trailer then breaks down to the components that you use to bulk up Bruticus. It also gives Onslaught bigger cannons. Unfortunately, they cannot clip on to Onslaught's back when he is just himself.

Platinum, Retail, Takara, G2, and Impactor from Ruination.

Onslaught. Though the Boosticus set does benefit some of the other bots, Onslaught benefits from it greatly. The feet and other accessories form a big trailer and he gets better guns.

Without the add-on kit. The tail is kinda lacking.

The new double tailfin clips on to the existing one. I will be leaving it on from now on as the clips are wearing out.

Robot mode. Other than the tailfins, the add on kit does not enhance the robot mode.

Vortex. The bronze and the red really work for me here. Would be nice to be able to store weapons on his back and give him the appearance of having the blades on his back from the game.

Swindle in his vehicle mode. The upgrade kit does not add anything in vehicle mode or robot mode.

And robot mode. I find it ibteresting that to get his vehicle mode into leg mode, you essentially crunch the vehicle down by pegging rhe front half of the vehicle into the lower half.

All the color variants. Platinum, Retail, Takara, G2, and Roadbuster from Ruination.

Swindle is up next. One thing I am finding with these figures is it gets more and more difficult to peg them in as tightly as they should be. Also, Takara's version seems to be the most screen accurate.
