Combiner Wars Superion is a bit gangly snd a little dated, but the limb bots seem to serve more of a purpose. Stability and poseability may vary.

AOTP Superion is bulkier and gives us more poseability. He is also more stable and more toon accurate. That may be a problem for those who actually may want to see the bots that make up his legs. It is a debate for sure. The cost of these guys is also a major sticking point..

Superion, the combined mode of the Aerialbots. The difference is night and day,.and the devisiveness begins. In CW, the leg bots are visible from thenfront, and actually function as limbs. AoTP gives us a frame and the other bots bulk him up.

Silverbolt is the leader of the Aerialbots. Turning into a Concord in the original G1, we can see that CW was going more for a fighter jet design opposed to the passenger jet design of the original.

Fireflight was an F4 Phantom II. You can see very different details here on the chest. Aside from the head, CW Fireflight is practically the same mold as Slingshot.

G1 Slingshot originally turned into a Harrier Vertical Take Off and Lift (VTOL) jumpjet. CW gave us the same design of jet we would see in number of various combiners.

Next, we have Air Raid. He transformed into an F15 Eagle. AoTP is more of that shape whereas CW seems to borrow the wing shape of an F14 Tomcat. CW gives us some more paint apps..AOTP keeps it simple.

Combiner Wars VS Age of the Primes Aerialbots. We start with Skydive, since he was the first Aerialbot I ever owned as a kid.
In G1, he transformed into an F16 Falcon. AOTP seems to be closer to that design here.

Picked this guy up today, and I was pleasantly surprised. He has a decent transformation and some really good articulation for his size. I highly recommend him if you want a nifty, little Megatron.

Here he in in jet mode. He is nice and long, and he is in a pleasant shade of G1 blue.

Compared to the Generations Thundercracker.

Robot mode has some nice rounded proportions. He is a nice solid figure.

Saw him at the store and decided today was the day I was going to pick him up. Studio Series Movie Thundercracker. He feels nice in the hand and he transforms nicely into a stylized F15 mode.

Devastator is very tall, but he is also very light, given that it feels hollow in places. Still, it is a very nice display piece.

Comparing his size to the combiner that was quite big in its day. Predaking, despite his height being dimunitive in comparison, feels more dense than Devastator.

Devastator is an Autobot's worst nightmare. Physically, he is greater than the sum of his parts, but mentally, those six minds are a destructive maelstrom of rage and anger, and the only constant is an urge to destroy everything in its path.

He is a very wide dump truck.

You can store all of Devastator's accessories and weapon in his dump bin.

He is a giant square of a bot. Articulation is very limited. Out of all the bots, he is the one who suffers most from a lack of articulation.

"Remove! Remove! I didn't join this outfit just to be a dump truck.."
Sums up what goes on in Long Haul's head as he carries out his daily tasks. Nevertheless, he knows Megatron's orders are not to be disobeyed. So, he submits to the daily grind.

Was not sure which end was supposes to be the front. This looks like the likeliest candidate, but the drum looks backwards.

The drum is the right way and so do are the smokestacks. Difficult to say. Maybe one is a ruse.

The articulation in some of these bots are hit or miss here. Some have small atms and some have no elbows. You do get the impression that they emphasized the combined form over the individual bots.

Mixmaster, the crazy alchemist of the Constructicons. From raw material to living robots, that drum is not just for cement mixing. The only thing most bots can agree on, it is that Mixmaster definitely has a few screws loose upstairs.

Scrapper is the engineer of the Constructions. He is the one designing all of the equipment the others use.
He is modest for a Decepticon. But he is also a nutcase, as he is known for using Autobots as raw materials for his experiments.

Not long after Drifts figure, the mold would be used for IDW Blurr, who would be a sniper of sorts, judging dy his weapons.
He sports a long rifle and twin pistols, which can attach to the rifle to make a stand for it. I love the vatious shades of blue they used here.

His alt mode is said to be a cross between a Mitsubishi FTO and a Nissan Silvia S15. His doors sport the kanji for "samurai".

One of the cooler figures, if not characters to come out during IDW's early days was Drift. We would get our first Drift figure around 2014 during Generations.

Designed as a VTOL jet, Windblade's jet mode is small and sleek

The fans on her wings can move around to be displayed as you see fit.

She is a very unique looking bot, with her Japaness style headress and markings inspired by kabuki. I do the sword's scabbard at her side.

Drawing her blade, Stormfall, Windblade is a formidable warrior.

Recognized as the first "designed by fans" bot back in 2013, we have Generations Windblade. Fans got to choose her faction, her alt mode, her color scheme, her name, and even her gender.
She is known as the Cityspeaker, being able to communicate with city sized titans.

Jet mode is quite stylish with red shiny weapons. He a little plain in terms of detail and transformation, but he is cool to display.

Without the facemask, he does look like Skyfire from the cartoon. He is very basic with the paint apps, but he still looks pretty decent.

Put the face mask on and he looks a lo8t like the valkyrie's mecha mode.

Fast forward a few years, and we have Jetfire from the Generations Thrilling 30. They went with a sleeker design snd a lot of red shiny paint. Most were afraid this meant a lot of chipped paint, but he has held up pretty well. He also has the removable mask as well.

Jet mode, paying a nice little homage to the original Valkyrie from Fortress Macross.

Features weapons that spring out when it is time to get down to business.

Without the mask, he is a nice representation of the character from the show.

Fold down the weapons on his back and put the helmet on. The helmet is a little big and makes his head look proportionally large. His two black guns can join together to make double barreled weapon.

A little throwback to another Classics figure. This is Voyager Class Jetfire, another of the core bots that jumpstarted my Transformers collection. His helmet can be removed to give you a choice between original G1 toy or G1 animation model.
Overall, still a great figure.

I decided to give my SS86 Galvatron Gamer Edition Megatron's mace because it looks more like something Unicron would give his heralds.

Picked these up a couple of days ago at my local target. Elita-1 fits as a better upgrade for Ariel than the Legacy Elita-1, in my opinion. As for Megatron, I like the design, and I think, given a few upgrades, he could actually be good.

So today I saw two SS86 line Transformers at Target that I really wanted.

Put them both in my basket. But, before I left I put them back, since I'm unemployed and that seems really frivolous.

Manic spending is not gonna get me

Comparison between the SS86 version and the MTMTE version. If there were any complaints with the mold, I do wish they could find a way to hide the legs better in vehicle mode, but that is a small nitpick.

I, of course, had to stand him next to Kup as well..just to see how he looked next to him. The flames do pop more in the new one because the orange they use is darker than that of the SS86 mold. Also, as another note, the orange in the thighs extends a little further down the lower leg, helping to break up the colors of the lower leg. We also get a few little paint apps that were not on the SS86..like the little bit of yellow near the wrist.

We still have the visor and the buzzsaw accessory

Notable new accessories are the sword and shield and the fishing pole.

For my birthday, my wife picked up MTMTE Hot Rod. So, we now have two versions of this figure. We have the more screen accurate version and the more G1 toy accurate version. I think I like the new version a little more..just because the flames on the chest do pop more.

I will post more about this one soon, but I just wanted to share a picture of a bot my wife got me for my birthday. This is not only the first Hot Rod she got me, but it is also not the first Hot Rod she got me with these colors.

He looks really good in Dune Buggy mode, giving us the traditional G1 shape , complete with rubber tires. He feels good, too, and rolls well. I like that all of his accessories have a place to go and they don't stick out too obviously.

Helicopter mode looks great, too, with very sturdy rotor blades. The cage underneath the helicopter is nice touch. He snaps together well and makes for a clean second alt mode. It is rare to get triple changers that look great in all 3 modes, but he pulls it off.

Robot mode poses nicely, giving us effectively, a scaled up G1 Sandstorm with more articulation.

And now we have all of the Sandstorms together for scale. All of them good figures, being good in their own right. It would be difficult to compare them fairly, for they each brinf something to the table.

Legacy Sandstorm represents to me a fulfilment of my younger self's Christmas Wish list. I believe I put him on the list back in the 80s, but I never got him. Then, a couple Christmases ago, I went ahead and got Sandstorm at last..the ultimate G1 Sandstorm..for now.

This is a retool of Springer, and I was definitely looking forward to this one's release back in the day.
I love the large wheels on the back of the car and love how they become the turbines.
