🔍The 2024 election reveals strange patterns:
Large gaps between presidential and down-ballot votes in swing states, along with unexplained drop-offs. 🧐
Is this a 2024 anomaly, or do these trends reveal deeper issues with voter behavior and election trust? 💭

Thank you for your feedback, Thomas. Jamie and I are releasing all of #BridgesOfHope free on Substack, and then we will also make it available as an ebook or paperback for a nominal cost.
The internet has become a powerful tool for communication, but thoughtful, constructive dialogue not so much. 😞
Courage takes many forms: speaking hard truths, holding silence when needed, and always standing out for what’s right. In times like these, standing out isn’t just brave—it’s essential. #StandOut #BridgesOfHope
Snyder's lesson, "Remember Professional Ethics," is a reminder that the erosion of democratic institutions often begins with the small compromises of individuals. When lawyers, doctors, journalists, educators, and other professionals prioritize personal gain or political expedience over ethical standards, the effects ripple outward, undermining trust and enabling injustice. Snyder draws attention to the role of lawyers in Nazi Germany, many of whom justified atrocities by manipulating legal frameworks, and the complicity of doctors who participated in unethical experiments. These individuals, blinded by ambition or fear, failed to honor the moral responsibilities inherent in their professions. #DemCast #BlueCrew #NoDemUnder5k #NoDemUnder10k #DoNotObey #DoNotObeyInAdvance

“In the dialogue people should talk directly to one another, one to one, across the circle. Then the time would come, if we got to know each other a bit and could trust each other, when you could speak very directly to the whole group, or to anybody in it.” David Bohm, On Dialogue
Let’s not assume everyone’s intent.
In true dialogue, trust is built by speaking directly, person to person. The more we practice listening, the more we inspire deeper understanding, not division.
Civility must lead us. #BridgesOfHope

Civil dialogue thrives on diversity.
Even when we disagree, listening with empathy strengthens our collective understanding. Let’s welcome all viewpoints—as long as respect leads the way.
Platforms like this are a chance to bridge, not divide. #BridgesOfHope

Do not obey in advance. "Most of the power of authoritarianism is freely given. In times like these, individuals think ahead about what a more repressive government will want, and then offer themselves without being asked. A citizen who adapts in this way is teaching power what it can do." - On Tyranny by Timothy Snyder
"Without free, self-respecting, and autonomous citizens there can be no free and independent nations. Without internal peace, that is, peace among citizens and between the citizens and the state, there can be no guarantee of external peace."- Vaclav Havel
Freedom calls us to refuse blind compliance.
Havel and Snyder warn that when we obey in advance, we invite tyranny. True independence is grounded in individual responsibility.
God gives us the strength to resist the enemy’s schemes and stand firm in faith (Ephesians 6:13). #BridgesOfHope

Caring for one another is taking action and persevering. It is gladly choosing a rugged path, one that equips us to work for the common good.

“The prophetic tasks of the church are to tell the truth in a society that lives in Illusion, grieve in a society that practices denial, and express hope in a society that lives in despair.” -Walter Brueggemann
Silence and passivity are not OK
Today demands action and truth-telling; engaging in society with integrity,
not for ourselves, but for the good of all.
We are called to justice, unity, and to build a better tomorrow.
Let's build it together.

“Get in good trouble, necessary trouble, and help redeem the soul of America.” - John Lewis
The late John Lewis taught us that good trouble is necessary to challenge injustice and protect democracy.
Today, as cracks in our system deepen, his words remind us to act courageously, engage in dialogue, and build a nation rooted in equity, forward-thinking and hope.
