I upload HTML files to #Brightspace to have more control (using #Emacs #orgmode). But yesterday I discovered BS was corrupting my code examples by applying MathJax indiscriminately.

I have a solution, using Javascript to disable MathJax on a per-file basis.

Appears as r"[0-9]+" with [0-9]+ in latex style, Computer Modern Roman font, and the \( and \) markers completely missing

#Brightspace is fucking up my teaching materials by being too clever.

It interprets latex code. Brilliant.

It just can't not do it, so my regexp example of

r"\([0-9]+\)")

is corrupted. Anything bracketed by \( & \) gets interpreted, even in <pre></pre> tags, if the HTML is created outside BS.

Code example r"[0-9]+" where the [0-9]+ is in Latex format, Computer Modern Roman font, instead of the r"\([0-9]+\)" required.

Of FFS! #Brightspace is fucking up my #Julialang teaching materials for tomorrow by being too clever.

Delete/Replace is 100% necessary for #BrightSpace's odd webdav implementation.

Replacing the file is not enough. Even with different size and timestamp it is not recognised as changed.

OK, if the file is open locally it won't update. Not ideal but not insane.

And a tip: delete then replace on the remote location, rather than just update.

Taming BrightSpace, for Linux users Making the LMS work for you, not you for the LMS BrightSpace is our new Learning Management System here in UL, since last semester. I’m trying to use it as a tool, rather than experience it as a constraint. The first thing I wanted to do was to manage content with as little interaction as possible with the BS user interface. The interface is reasonably well designed, but it depends a lot (like most LMSes) on doing things one at a time, with lots of clicking and opening menus and SAVEs and CONFIRMs.
