All of the #Blazers starters scored in double figures, led by #GeoffPetrie scoring 32 points. #SidneyWicks added 26 while #LloydNeal added 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

McAdoo was the 2nd selection in the 1972 @NBA Draft, behind the Blazers selection of #LaRueMartin. The rumor around the #NBA at the time of the draft was McAdoo had signed a contract with the #VirginiaSquires of the rival #ABA, after a "secret" draft in which names of those drafted were not made public.

The draft in question was held on March 2, 1972, five weeks before the NBA draft on April 10. Eventually, McAdoo was indeed noted as the No. 1 pick of the 1972 ABA Draft but no contract was ever produced. Other reports were that a contract was signed and voided, because McAdoo was too young to have signed it and that Buffalo somehow knew this, so they selected him.

Even without proof of a contract, and McAdoo denying he had signed one, NBA Commissioner #WalterKennedy advised NBA teams not to draft McAdoo. #Portland continued to negotiate with McAdoo, and it was believed an agreement was reached the day before the draft, before an additional demand was made by McAdoo's agent. The Blazers declined the new demand and selected Martin instead.
