In tribute to Michael Burawoy, one of the first scholars we met to discuss the social dimension of love and the mission of sociology. Though initially skeptical about love, his openness to dialogue made a lasting impact. Thank you, Michael. shorturl.at/xD3Sf #SocialLove #Solidarity #Burawoy
Had the amazing chance to attend his lectio on #settler #colonialism omparing Israel/Palestine and South Africa, at ESA Conference last Summer. What an incredible scholar.
Rest in power, Prof. #Burawoy.
Hit-and-run death of UC #Berkeley professor emeritus Michael #Burawoy an 'unimaginable loss'
I will always remember Michael as my comrade in our 3 person "Socialist Caucus" inside the Berkeley anti-apartheid movement. Rest in Power, Mike.
His 2004 ASA presidential address 'For Public Sociology' made a big impact on me. Sorry to hear. #Burawoy
#Burawoy
He didn’t give me the answers.
He showed me how to ask the right questions.
He changed the way I think.
Wonderful conversation (in French) with Michael #Burawoy on his work and trajectory as a highly original Marxist sociologist.

Michael #Burawoy was killed in a hit-and-run car accident. Terrible news. One of the greatest representatives of critical #sociology, an inspiration for me as far as I consider myself a part Zambianist. His „Color of Class in the Copper Mines“ is an invaluable classic and highly relevant still […]
Remember reading this while writing up my #PhD, which used a theoretical framework developed from both Gramsci and Bourdieu.
The confidence it gave me, seeing someone else recognise the similarities, was profound.

#Gramsci meets #Bourdieu

Michael #Burawoy - the great ethnographer and sociologist of work under contemporary capitalism
Heartbroken to hear about the death of Michael #Burawoy. No one who came through UCB Sociology was left untouched by his kindness, generosity, or intellect. I remember my first office hours with him, reminiscing about our shared experiences in Zambia… the place won’t be the same without him
