Beginning on #ThisDayInHistory in 1951, ~6500 US troops were intentionally exposed to #radiation and psychological effects from #NuclearWeapons testing. Participation was mandatory, not by volunteering. The #BusterJangle tests were meant to see how troops would handle combat use.
