Chart of the article's reanalysis of Ireland's exemplar 2021 national assessment's 'Paris Test' of carbon budget scenarios and quantified 'Paris Test' threshold adjustments identified in the article. The chart shows the reanalysis results for the temperature commitment (forcing) pathways for each of the original five scenarios for 2020–2050 relative to the test threshold. Globally upscaled temperature rise is on the vertical access with the 2020 to 2050 period on the horizontal access. Horizontal dotted lines in the chart indicate reduced test threshold levels for 2050. In addition to cutting fossil fuel CO2, reduction in agricultural methane emissions is crucial to limiting Paris Test threshold overshoot and to return to the test threshold before the end of 2050.
