At today's #CGRFA side-event at @fao.org, speakers representing a range of perspectives concurred that biodiversity conservation and sustainable use can be pursued in harmony with productive agrifood systems, for #PeaceWithNature.
The synthesis progress report on the implementation of the @fao.org #CGRFA Global Plan of Action for Animal Genetic Resources found that there was stagnation or deterioration in GPA implementation since 2020 across various strategic priority areas, particularly in relation to funding.
Draft studies on microorganism and invertebrate genetic resources (MIGR) - a new work area under the @fao.org #CGRFA - presented to Commission, with a focus on edible fungi and invertebrates, MIGR in food processing
and agro-industrial processes, and other functional groups of
MIGR.
Informal @fao.org #CGRFA consultations underway to clean up text on access and benefit-sharing, digital sequence information, and implementation of the Framework for Action on Biodiversity for Food and Agriculture. A contact group on climate-related matters will convene in the evening.
