So ... the end!
I have compiled 10 pages of notes from the Christopher #Tolkien Centenary Conference over this weekend.
I am enthused, energised, and at the same time exhausted.
What a wonderful weekend!! Thank you, again, to all involved!

Some speakers reach out to all their audience – Verlyn Flieger draws us in to an almost intimate space. She is truly a wonderful speaker as well as an extraordinary Tolkien scholar.

Verlyn Flieger!!! 🤩

... and now Michael Drout is being followed by James Tauber.
This physicist is getting a double-nerd-out evening 😅

I can't help myself but absolutely LOVE 😍 the use of various multivariate techniques from linear algebra on word frequencies in "The Lord of the Rings" by #Tolkien .
Michael Drout using this to tie to the revision history of a chapter just makes it even better!

There's a break in the Christopher #Tolkien Centenary Conference, and our tea isn't quite ready yet ... so of course I spend the time reading in Shippey's “The Road to Middle-earth” ... I mean ... what else? 😂

That was a thought-provoking talk by Robin Reid, thank you!

Wonderfully close reading of Christopher Tolkien's comments on "The Lay of Leithian" in "The Lays of Beleriand" highlighting CJRT as a reader of his father's work.
A consideration of the individual words worthy of the Tolkiens.

So great to hear about Christopher Tolkien as a medieaval scholar in his own right!
Nicholas Birns right now and of course also Doug Anderson yesterday. Really interesting!
#CJRT100
Listening to Christina Scull and Wayne Hammond ... and fanboying just a bit ...
#CJRT100
Kristine Larsen continues on the Athrabeth – this time on layers of notes on notes on notes on notes on ...
Wonderful stuff!

@aranelparmadil.bsky.social Sara's use of "Elfsplain" so perfectly captures the male Elf trying explain the human condition to a human woman ... (need I add that Tolkien thought that Finrod was (mostly) right?.
#CJRT100
Now getting excited for Sara Brown's paper, ““We are as we are, and ye are as we find you” (Or Finrod Elfsplains the Gift of Ilúvatar): The ‘Athrabeth Finrod ah Andreth’ as Core Text in Tolkien’s Legendarium”

Absolutely fascinating talk by Jessica Yates about "Christopher Tolkien’s Lectures at Oxford". #CJRT100
Christopher being a much clearer speaker at lectures than his father allowed her to take copious notes during lectures ...
Brilliant talk by Nick Groom on “Forewords and Prefaces – or Apologies? Christopher Tolkien’s Prologues to ‘The History of Middle-earth’”!
