At #CMSCOP15 3 shorebirds of the Americas Flyways, Hudsonian Whimbrel, Hudsonian Godwit & Lesser Yellowlegs were added to CMS Appendix 1, giving them the strongest protection. Govts at #CMSCOP15 agreed to develop a Multi-species Action Plan for Americas Vultures by COP16. They strengthened the CMS mandate on restriction of veterinary use of Non-steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs harmful to vultures & eagles, with workshops called for to support implementation of this. 6/12

Substantial progress for raptors was delivered at #CMSCOP15, listing the iconic Snowy Owl on Appendix II, adopting a new Steppe Eagle Action Plan, as prepared by RSPB for this flagship species of the Central Asian Flyway, & deciding to establish Internationally Important Raptor Areas worldwide. 5/12

Protection of #seabirds was also strengthened at #CMSCOP15 by listing on CMS Appendices of 23 species of gadfly petrels, the most threatened group of marine birds after Albatrosses, plus Flesh-footed Shearwater, as well as Concerted Actions agreed for the latter & Antipodean Albatross. #birds 4/12
At #CMSCOP15 a milestone Resolution on Seabirds & Marine Flyways was adopted, a new framework for inter-governmental action for seabirds, benefitting other migratory marine megafauna, aiding protection of key marine areas & helping achieve global ocean targets eg of the new High Seas Treaty. 3/12
