9/9. Now, #COP2020 has not yet revealed all its secrets! We only looked at the first 6 months, until the Atacama seismic/a-seismic sequence happened… Did that sequence aborted the SSE or somehow perturbed it? We’ll have to wait a bit longer to answer…🧐

7/9. This network captured the onset of #COP2020… in March 2020! Here, we show how it is incredibly similar to its predecessor of 2014, both thanks to the direct analysis of data, and to Bayesian modeling of the slip distribution
6/9. To catch #COP2020 (or not…), we installed 5 permanent #GPS stations in 2019, 3 of them collocated with seismological stations by @ZachDuputel , @zigdim and colleagues from @ecole_terre

5/9. At the time, there were very few #GPS stations in that region, but the single one operational since 2002 showed weirdly similar signals in 2009 and in 2004… leading us to hypothesize that this SSE was recurrent… and to forecast the next one in 2020…
#COP2020 was born!
Return of the Slow Slip, Episode 4.
In the previous episode, we found out it was recurrent, predicted it would return… and it did!#ANR_S5 #COP2020 @ChristopheVigny @ZachDuputel @zigdim @sruizt @Geosciences_ENS

So good to be back on the field in #Chile after so many months ! Relieved to realize with @ChristopheVigny, we did not loose our touch : 1 week, 2000km, 20 sgps deployed, 7 stations visited - 100% data recovered! #ANR_S5 #Atacama #COP2020 #OnTheRoadAgain #DesiertoFlorido
Very excited to share our latest work on the interplay of seismic & aseismic def. during the 2020 #Atacama sequence, #Chile. Great team work resulting from #COP2020 & #ANR_S5 (many more contrib. than mentioned here!).
Soon in EPSL - preprint @EarthArXiv :

2/3 but it appears disjoint from the deep #SSE detected between 2014 and 2016@ZachDuputel #COP2020 @INSU_CNRS and from the very atypical region of Caldera where several seismic swarms occurred in 1973, 1976 and 2006
