A selection of panels from the comic Chainsaw Man. In the first panel, the titular Chainsaw Man (a devil-human hybrid with chainsaws for hands and also a chainsaw for a head) says: "As you become increasingly alone... your heart aches, doesn't it?" Panels 2 and 3 consist of the character Yoru (the devil Horseman of War, inhabiting the body of a high school girl) reacting with increasing levels of shock and incredulity.
It is a true genius storytelling technique of Fujimoto's to take the impossibly high-stakes apocalyptic conflict of Chainsaw Man's second arc, and shackle it to two of the dumbest babies ever witnessed in any medium.

Fujimoto has really captured the spirit of adolescence here. Petty insults and petulant behavior supersede any sort of higher moral calling. The world is crumbling and must suffer though an apocalyptic tantrum.
This ch does well to underscore this scenario being a race to the bottom.
