Ceanothus, or California Lilac, a native plant and nitrogen fixer, in shades or white through dark purple and height from inches to thirty plus feet. Looks delicate in bloom - she’s not. A tough plant that weathers drought with leathery evergreen leaves.

Another variety of Ceanothus, here with tufts of blooms more like a traditional lilac.
