Microscopy photo of two seeds of Asclepias fascicularis - Narrow-leaf Milkweed. The seeds are a medium brown with a rough texture, and an odd shape. They are long ovoids, with rough outer shapes, but curled up so that they look like potato chips or dried leaves. They are lit from the top right with a bright white light, and have a warm fill light on the lower left. The background is a large circle of a light, cyan blue, with a darker boarder.
Microscopy photo of a Limnanthes douglasii - Meadowfoam seed. The large seed is a long oval shape with lots of deep pits and crags. it looks like an aasteroid, or a peach pit. The seed is lit from above in a bright white light, with a warmer fill light on the bottom, and a backdrop of a red circle inset into a darker boarder. Lots of dust and small particles can be seen blurred against the background.
A single seed of Layia platyglossa - Tidy-Tips. It is a long, pointy shape, centered in the image, running horizontally. The shape is like a closed umbrella, without the handle. It is a deep purple color with lighter colored striations running end to end. There is a large pinky/purple circle backdrop.
Microscopy Night!
Haven't done one of these in a while, and it's pretty slim pickin's for flowers these days.
But 'tis the season for SEEDS!

Second flowering of our #TecomaStans bush, also called #YellowTulipBush or #BeanBush due to seed pods it makes. Had to hack it back again as it was to top of roof and supposed stay below 4 feet where I live, haha. Makes a nice flower bouquet! Native to #Southwest.
