This Royal Canadian Air Force CF-100 serialled 18488 was built as Mk 4B and first flew on 31 August 1955. It served with 428 squadron, and was converted to Mk 5 in 1957. In the 1960s, 18488 transferred to the EWU (Electronic Warfare Unit) at St Hubert, and in this image the 'Clunk' is sporting that unit's markings on the engine cowling. The EWU would later be redesigned 414 (EW) squadron, but at that stage 18488 was already retired, carrying out its last flight on 20 April 1966. On 14 August that same year, the aircraft was unveiled at Centennial Park in Moncton, New Brunswick where the aircraft can still be viewed.
Already sitting on a pole for nearly 60 years at Centennial Park in Moncton NB, this CF-100 Canuck has been under recent restoration. It has now returned in shiny condition. More info on this aircraft in the image alt.
