I work for a Fortune 15 company. Every quarter we have to grow. Every 1% a business segment loses is a 1% headwind against growing. Every 1% makes it harder to meet annual targets. Shareholders ask questions. There is an absurd belief that boycotting is unsuccessful if a company isn't bankrupted. The same company that squeezes its customers however possible if it adds .5% to the bottom line because every tenth of a percent MATTERS. I canceled my subscription. It won't end Disney, but it will make a lot of executives uncomfortable. It will cut into their bonuses. Don't let anyone - human or bot - convince you collective action is pointless. Every subscription canceled is a subscription they have to claw back from somewhere else before they can grow. And they have exactly one quarter to do it.

Something to keep in mind.

And beyond this, teach them there is a cost. Maybe not a business killing cost, but one to weigh against the alternative.

I know it's hard if you have kids, but even if you cancel for a few months, you're helping tip the scale.
