I left Cardboard Jay set up in my cubicle on my last day of work in mid-June. I got a text from a co-worker friend this morning saying, "Thanks for the laugh" when she arrived for the next monthly in-office day.

My former workplace has their monthly in-office day today. I got a text from a friend who sat across from my cubicle - "Thanks for the laugh." Cardboard Jay has struck again.

I'm actually meeting my former co-workers tonight at the after-hours gathering at a local bar.

This is Cardboard Jay. He used to be setup in my cubicle whenever I went on vacation. My coworkers would drag Cardboard Jay into meetings and out to lunch/coffee and take photos of him out around town. Good times!

I’m in the office for the final time today. I’m retiring after 33 years in the IT industry.

Today I’ll turn in my work computer equipment and access badge. I’m also leaving the “Cardboard Jay” cutout to be recycled and to live on with someone else’s face.
