He had travelled to England to hear the trial regarding the annulment of King Henry VIII’s marriage to Katherine of Aragon.

Cardinal Lorenzo Campeggio, Bishop of Salisbury and Papal Legate died. Buried in Santa Maria in Trastevere, but in 1571 his remains were moved to Santa Marta e Bernardino, Bologna.
