UV casque biofluorescence occurs in living #birds and even 100-year-old #museum specimens (big thanks to @nhm.org & @amnh.org for samples). This may be useful for censusing wild individuals 🇵🇬 🇦🇺 (similar to whale fluke “fingerprinting”) and identifying incomplete #cassowary specimens in collections.
