The Castro Theater has been under restoration for the past 5 years and tonight was the Grand reopening. The ceilings were brown with varnish and cigarette smoke and now they sparkle like they did when the building was built over a hundred years ago.
Looking forward to the reopening of San Francisco's Castro Theater. I used to haunt the place, sitting through film after film. After a major restoration, it opens February 6, screening Priscilla Queen of the Desert [though it's no longer a repertory house].

In the mid-late 1980s, we frequently watched classic #Hollywood films at the #CastroTheater in #SanFrancisco βand I am happy to report that seeing βAll About Eve,β and βSinginβ in the Rain,β βStormy Weather,β and other OG hits in that cinema in THAT era was a PARTY. ππΎπποΈπ¬ποΈ
