Did you know that there's a genus of sabre-toothed cat called Yoshi?

Yoshi has a domed head that looks superficially like a cheetah's and species assigned to the genus have been found in Africa, Asia, and Europe.

A small, fluffy kitten walks over some rocks. While the kitten looks similar to a domestic cat, their ears are very round and further down the side of their face, and their forehead is spotted rather than showing the classic tabby cat "M" shape.

The manul is known for having a lot of personality. New observations by MGL Mills in Cat News suggest that this big personality might include cooperative care of kittens! In India, two different adults were seen bringing prey to a den with kittens.

Lions are known for living in prides, but Asian lions have a slightly different social structure. They live in sex-segregated groups with male groups of 1-5 individuals and small female groups (2 females on average and their dependent cubs).

The skull is somewhat broken and is missing much of the top of the snout and around the eyes, but the teeth and braincase are intact. The mandible is very well-preserved and looks almost like it came from a recent skeleton.

Cats belong to a family of carnivorous mammals called Felidae. The oldest know fossil cats belong to the genus Proailurus, which means "before cat." This specimen is about 20 million years old
