And people with CP aren’t here to be inspirational side characters.

Cerebral palsy was first described in the early 1800s.

Which means people with CP have always existed — medicine just took a while to catch up.

Bearing Disability: Plasticity in Cerebral Palsy This month is Cerebral Palsy month. A month to bring awareness to Cerebral Palsy. It is a term used to describe a group of disorders that affect movement and muscle coordination. It’s caused by brain damage, often occurring during or shortly after birth. While Cerebral Palsy is often considered a lifelong condition, the brain’s plasticity has an amazing way of helping individuals with the function of their limbs.

Bearing Disability: A Glimpse into Cerebral Palsy March marks Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about the disability, promoting inclusivity and understanding. Cerebral palsy (CP) is a term used to describe a group of neurological disorders that affect movement, coordination, and muscle tone. These disorders are often caused by brain damage or abnormal brain development. Typically this occurs before or during birth. Mine was caused during labour.
