Above and beyond singing
"Last winter, one of our junior choirs put on an informal concert at a care home, with 8 year old members and 88 year old residents singing Christmas classics together! Afterwards, our members had the chance to chat to some of the residents. So many of our members were brilliant in that moment, asking questions and striking up conversations. In particular, two brave members, some of the youngest in our choirs at 7 years old, went up to one elderly resident and had a really lovely conversation about hobbies. After they'd finished speaking about singing, conversation turned to football. The resident asked the members who their favourite team was. They answered and, after a brief pause, he told them that he used to play for that team over 60 years ago. A really special moment, and one that reminded me just how much we offer that goes above and beyond singing."
