A teeny tiny frog with glistening skin perches on a bright green mint leaf. His adorable forelimbs are resting against a bright red ceramic planter. It is nighttime……… Okay. Honestly. The entire time I was growing up, and well into adulthood, I ACTUALLY THOUGHT the chirping was coming from birds. I was confused as all get out, and would try to track down these alleged birds. But the freakin’ little devils would stop chirping as soon as I got close! It was only when I realized the chirps were coming from some VERY unbird-like areas (under a planter?) that I realized the truth.

I believe this tiny guy is a juvenile Rio Grande Chirping Frog. Any herpetologists out there? They jump so fast and so far, this is the ONLY time I’ve ever been able to photograph one. They sound exactly like birds chirping at night.
