Work-relief administrator Harry Hopkins wrote, "Long after the workers of CWA are dead and gone and these hard times forgotten, their effort will be remembered by permanent useful works in every county of every state. People will... attend schools they built... do their public business in courthouses and state capitols which workers from CWA rescued from disrepair..." On #ThisDayInHistory in 1933, #FDR launched the short-lived #CivilWorksAdministration. It spent 200 million per month and gave jobs to four million, building bridges, schools, airports, and sewers. CWA was replaced in 1935 in the Second #NewDeal with #WorksProgressAdministration.
