A brick photographed at Tilbury's Clinker Beach, a section of the north shore of the River Thames. The brick is almost intact and is marked Durex. It sists on pebbles and sea-weed. It was manufactured by Stanley Brothers in Nuneaton, who made bricks, apparently, until the 1960s. Durex is the words Durable and Excellent joined in shortened form to make a snappy title.

The upper half of a bottle, marked Brylcreem, laid on a base of stained and rough wood. Brylcreem was a gentleman's requisite during the earlier part of the 20th century, worn by sleazy people with affectations of sophistication and sold by back street chemists. Seen at Tilbury's Clinker Beach.

The lower part of a "Beefex" bottle; Beefex was a 1930s competitor to Bovril. The part bottle is pitted and faded by decades in the River Thames, at Tilbury's Clinker Beach, a stretch of shoreline exposed by the river's tides at the edge of a disused landfill site, that took garbage and building rubble fro east London.
