Unfortunately some ink washed off along with the staining, but that’s to be expected with these older books, especially in areas with heavy attrition like that bottom right corner.

Testing a new method for removing rust stains from paper. First I form a thin agar gel and soak it in evaporust. Next I place it on the rust stain and let it absorb whatever it can!

Thanks! Sometimes I do fine work with a chamfer board and tack iron, or I’ll use a ball bearing to roll out dents and dings, but at the end I humidify and hot press the books!
