Facts and Perspective from History: The Nazis came to power in 1933 and immediately, within weeks, had opened Dachau, which was founded on a converted factory site. The Trump Administration came to power again in 2025 and within six months had opened Alligator Alcatraz on a converted training airport runway and Fort Bliss, a former World War I! Japanese internment camp. On November 9, 1938, the famous night a lot of people have heard of called Christelnacht began. In a little less than 48 hours, more than 30,000 Jews were sent into concentration camps. It took the Nazis more than five years from the opening of the first camp before they started doing large sweeps of German Jews into camps. On January 27, 2025, the first large-scale ICE immigration raids took place in Miami, Los Angeles, Atlanta, New York City, and Phoenix, and within 48 hours 23,000 immigrants, most here legally and with no criminal record, were sent into concentration camps. It took less than eight days from Inauguration Day to arrest tens of thousands of immigrants and a few citizens. Today, at the end of the first year of this second Trump administration, there are more people in immigrant concentration camps than Jews, disabled persons, and homosexuals in Nazi Germany five years into the Third Reich.
