I try to remember to stop and look behind me when I’m out on a hike, especially if I’m doing a loop. I went to the sand dunes on my birthday, drove a UTV, sand boarded on the tallest dune, and hiked the park. I remember turning around and seeing my footprints and feeling a little lonely in that moment. It probably didn’t help that it was cooler that day and gloomy. Overall, it was a good day and a great trip. I’m glad I went.

“Don’t tread on me”. Welsh’s milkweed (A. welshii) (below next to the sign) is a rare plant that is only found in 4 locations in southern Utah & northern Az. I guess the “No Motorized Vehicle” sign is there for a reason!
