Christmas markets are nice and all, but they ( #corkcc ) should really have pedestrianised Emmett Place.
the one by the Crawford Gallery on Emmett place (with ridiculously low awnings too) has taken up all the footpath and the area is full of people in cars double parked for their Starsucks coffee

Cycled the Curraheen Road today.
It's been 1,173 days since plans for pop up (light segregation) cycle lanes and a pedestrian crossing were approved by a majority of #corkcc elected reps.
No sign of construction starting onsite unfortunately.

Thanks Eoin English and The Examiner for reporting my comments on the Traveller Accommodation Programme agreed by #CorkCC.
This is the most well-researched of any adopted anywhere. Now it has to move from being a "plan" to a "programme" of delivery.
These can't come sooner, given the blatant red light running by people driving

This month, #CorkCC agreed its budget for 2025.
A priority for me was the rates reductions offered to owners of vacant commercial buildings. These will be reduced and reviewed again next year.
I'm also working with officials on policy to promote meanwhile use of vacant properties.
Busy morning for #CorkCC officials at a drop-in session for property owners wanting to take buildings out of vacancy and dereliction.
Grants up to €70,000 to renovate properties are available. About 250 properties in the city have been funded to become homes again. 👏👏
My latest monthly newsletter is out now:
🌳 New parks across the ward
🅿️ Parking enforcement on MacCurtain Street
🚸 Safe Routes to Schools in St Luke's and Glanmire
As well as all my motions and questions to #CorkCC for this month.

Very little illegal parking in town today .
The council's "parking enforcement is just for Christmas" approach seems to be working

This isn't getting built is it?
The Cork numbers at cabinet for the next govt will likely be greatly diminished

This month, #CorkCC delivered a booklet to every household outlining a vision being delivered for the city.
It's an example of the work the Green Party in Cork have been doing since being elected in 2019 — on housing, transport, climate action and a lot more.
