As measured by C19 cases in hospital we seem to be about two weeks past the peak of this #Covid19Ireland wave, todays 340 being 78% of the Aug15 peak. Disappointing that this summer peak was higher than then Spring one when me might have hoped for continued harm reduction /1

Current #Covid19Ireland wave now has a fairly visible hospital bed occupancy peak even if lower than 5 out of the 7 'everything open' post vaccination waves. I stopped tracking daily stats in detail so can't offer much of a deep dig other than clearly its not seasonal yet

I stopped entering the daily stats into my spreadsheets a couple of months back but from the HSE tracker it’s pretty clear we are a couple of weeks into another #Covid19Ireland wave which is still - in summer - disruptive to healthcare ...

I see the #Covid19Ireland app is in its final days of any activity (contact tracing was turned off a long long time ago). Be very interesting to see a detailed evaluation of its original core purpose, how many of those 47k people warned were infected but heard early enough?

Monthly HPSC #Covid19Ireland deaths bulletin published today. Comparing with last month (left)
71 more deaths notified in month
9 of these were in 2022, 2022 total is now 2358 & unlikely to rise much further
180 deaths are known to have occurred in 2023 but will be a higher /1

With HSE acknowledging new #Covid19ireland wave in Ireland about 3 weeks after I pointed to it beginning I thought it a good moment for an update over on https://mastodon.ie/@AndrewFlood/110100167771183414 - TLDR; I'm not at all alarmed - so far this is the smallest of the 9 waves...

Last week I pointed to the start of a new #Covid19Ireland wave & said it would tell us a lot about our future. So far the news is very good - the circled portion is last years 7 day new hospital waves of Jan & March, so far this year looks nothing like that experience /1

While I expect the harm caused by each #Covid19Ireland wave will continue to diminish the waves themselves are still coming and we look to be about a week into a new one by multiple measures. This one is 7 day swab positivity from https://covid19.shanehastings.eu/api/swabs/

#Covid19Ireland hospital cases trend continues to be much less alarming than rapid rises occurring today in 2020 or 2021 with number in hospital today actually falling below D31 2021 - analysis at

It appears about 32% of the new #Covid19Ireland hospital cases in the first 6 months of 2022 were also hospital acquired. I’ve not found the HSE figure quotes below but there were about 17,757 new hospital cases in the daily updates, the 5762 hospital acquired are 32.4%

A look at the recent #Covid19Ireland hospital cases stats that suggests the peak this year will be well below 2020 and perhaps even 2021 with some evidence was it not for the boost Xmas mixing will cause we might have already reached it - in more detail at...

7 new #Covid19Ireland ICU cases this morning make it had not to be concerned. That's 36 new ICU cases this week, 300% of the previous weeks 12. 33 in ICU now & rising, there were 2 & rising ICU cases Dec 24th 2020 (the 'meaningful xmas') & 89 but falling last Dec 24th /1

It's been a month so an update on what seems to be happening with #Covid19Ireland as we come off the peak of a wave in time to get another in for Xmas :-(
But the good news is as measured by hospital cases the wave peak was small compared to previous ones /1

With the new #Covid19Ireland wave now clearly underway as measured by the rise in the 7 day total of new hospital cases its a good moment for over 50s to take advantage of the new bivalent vaccines that rolled out this week. 417 NHC this week are 178% of the wk to Sept 15 /1

I'm not liking the right hand edge of the 7 day running total of new #Covid19Ireland hospital cases graph as although its too soon to call it sure looks like start of the (expected) new wave. 313 NHC this week is 130% previous.
