The oldest work of art found in what is now England: the Robin Hood Cave horse, from said cave at #CreswellCrags, #Derbyshire. On display until 14 Sept at #CliffeCastle museum in #Keighley, in the excellent #IceAgeArtNow exhibition (free entry), part of #Bradford2025. #FindsFriday

Exploring the caves at the wonderful Creswell Crags archaeological park in Derbyshire. Excavations at the site since the late 19thC have uncovered considerable evidence of human habitation in the Palaeolithic @CreswellCrags #creswellcrags #stoneage #iceage #prehistoric
I made friends with a hyena today at the Creswell Crags archaeological park in Derbyshire #creswellcrags #prehistoy #prehistoric #hyena @CreswellCrags
I went to the Creswell Crags in Derbyshire today to see only known Ice Age cave art (c12,000 yrs old) in Britain. It’s hard to see, but there’s a bird in 1st image, bison in 2nd & stag in 3rd
Finally, a horse engraved into a bone was found in another cave on the site #caveart #creswellcrags #iceage
#CreswellCrags on the #Derbyshire and #Nottinghamshire border. A feeble 1.5 miles two days ago but that's all the cursed knee allows at the moment.

A photo of a cuddly trilobite with a green head, a blue ‘segmented’ body and tint cerise (legs? Cilia?)
I don’t know about crustaceans per se, but I visited Creswell Crags (on the Nottinghamshire Derbyshire border) last week and bought a cuddly trilobite. As yet I have not produced it on a crowded train, but into my rucksack it goes for Monday’s commute…

A prehistoric hand axe, located at #CreswellCrags. Terrified of dropping it! 😍
So lucky to have #CreswellCrags on my doorstep. (Notts / Derbyshire border). An unbelievable place to feel connected to our #StoneAge ancestors and see what they’ll left behind including the oldest #CaveArt in the UK.
To further bore everyone to tears, I've put todays' walk up on my website: uphilldowndalewalks.co.uk/creswell-cra...
