Census: Agricultural sector employment reaches 1.7 million, generating income of RM186.4 billion
PUTRAJAYA: A total of 1.74 million people will be involved in the agricultural sector in 2023 with 76.3 percent of the sector’s employment recorded in the crop sub-sector, reflecting the sector’s critical role in supporting the people’s source of income. Chief Statistician Datuk Seri Mohd Uzir Mahidin said Sarawak recorded the highest number of employed people at 358,803, followed by Sabah (281,116), Johor (210,575), Perak (194,316) and Pahang (193,216).
